Ready to take the next step toward advancing your career in nutrition? Auburn University offers three distinct options within the Master of Science in Nutrition program, allowing you to choose the path that best fits your goals. 

 

Program Options 

  1. M.S. Thesis Track
    Ideal for students interested in research and academic careers. This option includes a thesis component and provides opportunities to work closely with faculty on cutting-edge nutrition research.
  2. M.S. Non-Thesis Track
    Designed for students seeking advanced knowledge in nutrition without the research requirement. This track emphasizes coursework that supports careers in clinical practice, community nutrition, sports nutrition, and leadership roles.
  3. M.S. Dietetic Internship Non-Thesis Track
    Available for students enrolled in the Auburn University Dietetic Internship or an affiliated Dietetic Internship. This option combines graduate-level coursework with supervised practice, preparing you to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).

Application/Eligibility Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0
  • Completion of the following courses at the undergraduate level:
    • Two semesters of inorganic/general chemistry (with labs)
    • One semester of organic chemistry (lab not required)
    • One semester of biochemistry
    • One semester of general biology or higher (with lab)
    • One semester of a general nutrition course
  • Applicants whose native language is not English:
    • TOEFL scores of at least 550 on the written test (213 on the computer-based test)
    • 79 on the Internet Based Test with at least 16 in each section
    • IELTS overall band score of at least 6.5; or
    • Demonstrate English proficiency during an oral examination (interview) satisfactory to the examining committee and approved by the graduate dean.
