Dr. Wendy Troop-Gordon is Professor of Human Development and Family Science at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. She received her A.B. in psychology from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and a PhD in educational psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Professor Troop-Gordon’s research examines the effects of peer stress on child and adolescent socioemotional and school adjustment with a particular emphasis on using longitudinal models to identify social cognitive and contextual factors that moderate the impact of peer difficulties on development and the mechanisms through which interpersonal stress affects long-term outcomes. She also has interests in using physiological and eye tracking methodologies to study the mechanisms underlying peer difficulties such as aggressive behaviors and peer victimization. She formally served as an associate editor for the journal Developmental Psychology and for the Journal of Applied Developmental Psychology, as well as having worked as an editorial board member for several developmental and educational psychology journals, including Social Development, Journal of Research on Adolescence, Journal of Educational Psychology, and Journal of School Psychology. Recently, she served as co-Editor-in-Chief for the second edition of the Encyclopedia of Adolescence. Her research projects have been funded by the National Institutes of Mental Health, the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. She is passionate about creating university-community partnerships, and her outreach includes providing educational workshops and programs for schools and civic organizations.
