Short Bio
Dr. Meirav Goldhour has had a range of experiences throughout her interior design career. She has worked both nationally and internationally in residential design, commercial design, adaptive reuse, historic preservation, community outreach, and commercial furniture. Goldhour served for two years in the Israel Defense Force (IDF) as a Physical Trainer-Combat Support in an elite paratroopers’ unit. Following her military service, Goldhour earned her undergraduate degree in interior design and, shortly thereafter, her MFA in interior design from the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia (UGA). While working part-time at Archway Partnership on the adaptive reuse of historic commercial buildings, Goldhour advanced her education by pursuing a professional certificate in Historic Preservation through the College of Environment and Design at UGA. For five years, Dr. Goldhour was an interior design professor and program coordinator at Converse University, Spartanburg, SC. While at Converse, Goldhour initiated collaborations between students and the industry, providing interior design undergraduates with real-world experience. Some of the projects included a renovation for a prefabricated building hosting a Bruery in Las Vagas, Nevada, The Chabad Jewish Center of Greenville, SC, two dormitories and lobby space on Converse University’s campus, the Spartanburg Area of Mental Health Clinic, and a poster presentation at a summit in Greenville Memorial Hospital, SC, where Goldhour performed collaborative research at the time with the behavioral health professionals. During her career at Converse University, Goldhour integrated sophisticated design tools into the curriculum to enhance students’ presentations and create an immersive experience. In addition, Goldhour advanced her education, earning an Ed.D. in Professional Leadership and conducting research on the impact of interior design on emotional and cognitive well-being in higher education. The topic of well-being in the design environment is an area of interest she is currently developing. Further, Goldhour serves as a Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) site visitor and assists with the accreditation process for interior design programs. Goldhour also enjoys architectural illustrations and watercolor painting. She developed independent studies with students and classes within the Auburn community, focusing on illustration and watercolor techniques. Goldhour’s paintings have been featured in different exhibitions and professional venues.
