Kyle L. Kostelecky is an Associate Professor of Human Development & Family Science at Auburn University. He is a lifespan developmentalist, gerontologist, and family scientist who has taught and conducted research in the areas of intergenerational relationships, the scholarship of teaching and learning, and military families. He has been leading the DOD/USDA federal grant project OneOp since its inception in 2010. His teaching truly spans both Human Development and Family Science, having taught over 30 different courses, covering both disciplines. He has also directed study and semester abroad programs, taking students to various countries in Europe and South America. He has directed, served, supervised, and mentored hundreds of graduate and undergraduate students in his research labs and on his teaching teams. Most recently, he has collaborated with Auburn's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) and offers a class for both Auburn University undergraduates and OLLI members, teaching adult development and aging in a multi-generational classroom on Auburn's campus. He has been awarded the Mike and Leanne Row Endowed Professorship in International Studies and well as Outstanding Faculty Member College of Human Sciences.

Innovation
Dr. Kostelecky's most recent research efforts focus on serving military family service professionals through the OneOp grant project. Since 2010, he has created, served as National Project Leader, and since 2014, been the Project Director and Principal Investigator of this DOD/USDA Military Families Partnership project. OneOp provides free and open-access learning opportunities within a full spectrum of human science subject areas such as personal finance, military community advocacy, building communities, nutrition and wellness, military connected children and youth, spouse employment, family relationships, and caregiving. OneOp meets the professional development needs of service providers with research- and evidence-based programming that reflects complex and dynamic DOD priorities. As a virtual organization with global reach, OneOp facilitates the connections and shared knowledge requited of providers within DOD's Military Family readiness System. As of early 2026, OneOp has served over 300,000 learners, certified over 150,000 continuing education credits, in all 50 U.S. states and 14 countries since programming started in 2012.
