Short Bio

Originally from New Hampshire, Clark grew up surrounded by nature which inspired him to pursue his education in the biological sciences, particularly in plant biology. In graduate school, Clark picked up the hobby of homebrewing and since then his interest in craft beer has grown. While working as a microbiology laboratory coordinator and lecturer at Auburn University at Montgomery, Clark attended the Graduate Certificate program in Brewing Science and Operations at Auburn University, the program he now directs. This program resulted in him taking his hobby and making it a career.

Professional Experience

Prior to working at Auburn University, Clark worked as an assistant professor and lecturer in biology across several colleges and universities in Michigan, Georgia, and Alabama. 

Innovation

Clark's research focuses on the cultural aspects and supply chain issues of the craft beer industry, historical beer styles, beer microbiology, and pedagogy.

Engagement

Clark has been working with the Dept. of Horticulture to promote hop production in Alabama and has been active in the establishment of a Farm to Tap program. He also takes part in educational opportunities revolving around the craft beer industry and their enthusiasts.
