Dr. Jenkins is an assistant professor at Auburn University and the director of the EMBRAHCE lab. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from Michigan State University and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies from Penn State University. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Family Diversity via the Vice Chancellor’s Distinguished Postdoctoral DRIVE Program at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her research focuses broadly on the ways dynamic and intersecting power systems shape psychological health and intimate relationships of Black Americans over time and the opportunities for demonstrating resilience. Her work aims to draw attention to the multi-leveled forces that affect Black Americans’ experiences/inequities while simultaneously illuminating practical avenues for thriving and advocating for inclusivity and representation in social science research.
