Accreditation
The Apparel Merchandising, Design and Production Management (AMDP) program is endorsed by the American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA). The endorsement is based upon a program’s compliance with incorporating industry-specified course content in the curriculum. Auburn’s AMDP program is one of only 13 programs in North America to be endorsed by the AAFA. The AMDP program was first endorsed by AAFA (formerly American Apparel Manufacturers Association) in 1998.
Apparel Merchandising program ranked #18 nationally and #1 in the south in 2023 by www.fashion-schools.org; Apparel Design ranked #1 in the South, and #4 among public schools and colleges.
In concert with the mission of the College of Human Sciences, the mission of the Apparel Merchandising, Design and Production Management (AMDP) program is to advance creative leadership by preparing graduates who are professionally competent, globally aware and socially engaged.
Our goal is that the Apparel Merchandising, Design and Production Management (AMDP) program be recognized nationally and internationally as the Program of Choice for students, faculty and employers. Through innovative, student-centered education we strive to prepare students to enter—and to advance—in the fashion-related career field of their choice.
The philosophy of the Apparel Merchandising, Design and Production Management (AMDP) program is to prepare graduates for a variety of fashion-related careers in the global supply chain. Creativity, innovation, critical thinking, technical competency, and communication effectiveness are valued skill sets. With the integrated core of apparel-related courses, coupled with the focus on the merchandising or design and production management, students will be prepared to work effectively as a team member in a variety of fashion-related settings.
