GRADUATE ADMISSIONS

To apply to the Graduate Program in Nutrition (MS or PhD program), students must complete the following:

  • Complete and submit an online application form www.grad.auburn.edu
  • Pay the application fee
  • Submit official transcripts and official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores. These should be submitted to the Graduate School, 106 Hargis Hall, Auburn University, AL 36849. USA
  • Make arrangements to submit 3 letters of reference
  • Submit a copy of your resume and statement of purpose

International applicants: In addition to the above, international applicants must also submit official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) scores to the Graduate School, 106 Hargis Hall, Auburn University, Auburn, AL 36849. Students MUST SCORE at least 550 on the paper TOEFL (pBT), 213 on the computer TOEFL (cBT), and 79 on the internet TOEFL (iBT) or 6.5 Overall Band Score on the IELTS to be considered for admission. On the iBT, students must score a minimum of 16 on the four component parts of the iBT (reading, listening, speaking, writing).


COURSE PRE-REQUISITES

To be considered for the Graduate program in nutrition, applicants need to have taken the following courses at the undergraduate level:

  • Two semesters of inorganic/general chemistry (with labs)
  • One semester of organic chemistry (lab not required)
  • One semester of general biology (with lab)
  • Two semesters of anatomy and physiology (with labs)
  • One semester of a basic nutrition course, and
  • Ideally but not required, one semester of biochemistry
