Ada Ruth Huntly Global Studies
My time at Auburn and in the Global Studies program was nothing short of incredible. Auburn not only gave me incredible opportunities and life-long friendships, but it gave me an incredible education that has opened the door to many opportunities and my current job. At World CentralKitchen, we are the first to the front lines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. Our work takes us all over the world, so the tools that I gained from Global Studies in terms of cultural appreciation and knowledge have proven to be incredibly helpful given the nature of our work. The time spent abroad in this program deepened those skills and prepared me for the type of work I do today. Furthermore, traveling to different countries and dealing with disasters and crises means needing the ability to quickly adapt to various situations. The skills learned using the problem-based learning model have helped me be able to quickly adapt to various situations I have been presented with in my line of work. Also, I decided to minor in Hunger Studies, which has given me the tools and knowledge needed to help the food-insecure populations we serve in our line of work. I am incredibly thankful that I chose Global Studies and am grateful for my education getting me where I am today.
