Summary
Dianne Kim is an Interior Design Lecturer with twenty-six years of experience in the Construction Management industry. With that experience as the cornerstone of her instruction, Dianne draws upon an interdisciplinary knowledge of the design-build integrative and iterative processes to shift the student’s perspective from theory to practical application of design principles. She offers a unique perspective that compels students to think beyond the design phase to implementation, offering cautionary tales of transforming the design vision to reality. Key subtexts of Dianne’s teaching approach focus on leadership, empowerment, and developing confidence in the next generation of designers; inviting them on a journey to see design as an art and a science - emphasizing that creativity in problem-solving is limited only by one’s imagination.
