I am working with Camp iCare this summer! I found this internship site from working with the Cary Center for the advancement of philanthropy and nonprofit studies this past spring semester. I helped with their Real Cent Real Change program and was also an undergrad teaching assistant for the gender, wealth, and philanthropy course. What I am doing with Camp iCare is teaching kids from the ages of 6 years to 12 years old about why it’s important to manage money and help them understand what it means to be a philanthropist. Camp iCare reaches a diverse group of kids throughout the summer. This past week we had two camps going on in Tuskegee and Shorter Alabama. This is important for me because I want to work with families who may not have as much as we are fortunate to have and it is allowing me to work with these kids on a personal level and get to know them and understand their background better.
