Study Abroad Testimonies

Studying abroad was easily the scariest, yet most rewarding thing I have done as a student at Auburn. To be honest, I heard horror stories of people going overseas and losing their passports or being pick-pocketed, but those tall tales were not the most terrifying situations to me when trying to decide if studying outside the United States was something I really was willing to do. I was more afraid of not knowing anyone else going on the trip. What if I didn’t make any friends or worse yet, what if I didn’t fit in and the experience I had built up in my mind was ruined? Well luckily those fears were all in my head. My classmates on this trip as well as our professor, Dr. Greene, turned out to be some of the most caring, down to earth, joyful people I have met in Auburn, and I am forever grateful I got to experience Europe and this particular study abroad with each of them. The Mediterranean Diet Study Abroad was everything I was looking for in a study abroad and so much more! It fit perfectly in with my Nursing major. I could easily go on and on about my time in Italy and Greece but in a nutshell: learning off campus, in a different country while under the umbrella of Auburn University is a MUST DO! You will see things you’ve learned about in history books, experience cultures and lifestyles that help transform you into a global citizen, strangers will become some of your most cherished friends, and most importantly you will make memories that will last a lifetime. I encourage you to take that leap of faith into the unknown and go abroad!
