Research
The ultimate goal of CHS research programs is to generate knowledge based on theory from the sciences and arts combined to enhance human well-being. CHS faculty lead research programs at the forefront of their fields, receive major research funding from government, industry, and the private sector, and present research results at professional meetings around the world. Research interests of Human Sciences faculty are as diverse and wide-ranging as our academic programs.
Consumer Affairs faculty undertake groundbreaking work on consumer behavior, global retailing, interior design, fashion forecasting, and textile and apparel product development.
Human Development and Family Studies faculty engage in cutting-edge research in such areas as children’s social competence, parent-child relationships, adolescent delinquency, family violence, and marital satisfaction.
Nutrition and Food Science faculty research interests include, (nutrition) diabetes, human obesity, nutritional epidemiology, (food science) food safety/microbiology, stability of food ingredients, (Hotel and Restaurant Management) service excellence, globalization theory and strategic management, information technology and e-commerce, small business tourism, wine tourism and tourism impact studies.
