CUBA

The Cuba Experience: a coast-to-coast exploration of food, farming and tourism

This 12-day study tour will take participants from Santiago de Cuba on the east coast, across to Havana. With stops along the way to study Cuba’s unique eco-agriculture, the emerging hospitality industry, and get an insiders’ view of a land that very few Americans have ever seen. As Cuba emerges from five generations of isolation from the United States, the trip will help students understand Cuba’s tourism and food security challenges and opportunities. The tour will focus on Cuba’s unique application of urban and organic farming – something that addresses urban poverty in other nations, including the US and will also feature unique visits to with smallholder farmers and some of the UN’s World Programme sites, as well as some of the world’s most pristine beaches and natural sites.
