Welcome to the Department of Consumer Affairs, College of Human Sciences, Auburn University.

We are proud to introduce you to our students, our faculty, and our programs.  Creativity and innovation are emphasized throughout our consumer-centered teaching, research, and outreach programs which are focused on improving quality of life for individuals and families. 

Our Instructional programs are recognized nationally and extend globally.

• Interior Design is ranked #4 nationally among CIDA (Council for Interior Design Accreditation) accredited programs 
• Our Interior Design program has been re-accredited by CIDA for the maximum six years (2008-2014)
• Apparel Design and Production Management is endorsed the American Apparel and Footwear Association Leadership Committee
• Students compete successfully in national and international competitions
• Over 20% of 2006-2008 graduates participated in the Joseph S. Bruno Auburn Abroad in Italy program, earning an International Minor
• 2007-2008 Internship locations included 14 states and four European cities
• Placement of Interior Design and Apparel Merchandising, Design and Production Management graduates is very high
• Strong mentoring and individually planned graduate programs enable M.S. and Ph.D. graduates to find placement in industry and higher education 

Our Research programs address issues of importance to consumers and industry.

Our Outreach programs focus on the needs of Alabama consumers.
